What Is a Drainless Tummy Tuck?

A drainless tummy tuck typically combines liposuction with a traditional tummy tuck but uses an advanced suturing technique that eliminates the need for post-surgical drains. After making the tummy tuck incision along your abdomen, Dr. Weinberg tightens muscle tissue and removes loose skin. Liposuction helps tone and sculpt abdominal contours. He then closes the incisions with layers of sutures to eliminate the space between the skin and muscles where fluid can accumulate after a traditional tummy tuck. Because there's no fluid buildup, there is no need for post-surgical drains.
